Elective 01 hiding place

research

This was the first time I did an animation that wasn’t a storytelling type, that didn’t have a main character but made an animation from my point of view. This time, I went to a strange place out of my comfort zone and made an animation about a hiding place from the perspective of travel. During the field trip and the enjoyment of the journey, I photographed many landscapes from different angles and the changes of sea waves and the flow of human tides to feel the changes brought by the passage of time. We also went to the railway station of Waterloo to collect sounds, observe people’s behaviors, and draw live drawings.

After determining the theme I wanted to do, I also did a lot of tests, such as integrating the daily newspaper with thread and making a short stop motion. I also tried to make it with wool, but the yarn was too soft to achieve the desired effect, so I tried another kind of thread. The moral I express is that even if it is a jumble of lines, he is like a guide in life, moving forward with the lines. The B&B I lived in Folkestone was also inspired by a very retro key, which gives people a sense of story, so I collected many drawings about bronze keys, which I want to use as the beginning and the end. Because when a key opens and closes a door, it opens and completes a story.

I used many colors and layers this time to make the image more decadent, but it might not be enough. Next time I want to do the same type of animation, I want to add more elements. It is also a pity that I did not use my voice at the beach or the station this time. When I listened to it, I found it was too noisy and had no sense of rhythm. I will consider this problem next time and continue to try.
